Meet the Mission: Richard Harris 8×8 Program

Wednesday, September 30, 2026

At CCC, every program plays an important role in helping people move from homelessness to stability. The Richard L. Harris building (also known as the 8×8 because of its address at 8 NW 8th Ave.) is one of those programs. As we recognize the importance of recovery and housing support, we’re highlighting how this team helps people get back on their feet and build a brighter future.

A Place to Start Again

Located in downtown Portland, the Richard Harris Building provides supportive housing and recovery-focused services for individuals who are coming off the streets and working toward long-term recovery. Case Managers work closely with participants to connect them with important resources, including housing, employment opportunities, health services, and recovery support. The goal is to help each person build a strong foundation for a healthier and more stable life.

Helping People Build a New Path Forward

The Richard Harris 8×8 program helps people take important steps toward independence. For many participants, the program provides more than just a place to stay. It offers guidance, support, and access to resources that can help them reach their goals.

When participants complete the program, they receive a graduation certificate and become part of the program’s alumni community. This milestone recognizes the hard work they’ve put into building a new path forward.

“We provide supportive housing. We also point you in the right direction so you can get housing, get a job, get health services, and hopefully keep building on the recovery foundation you started.”
— Stephen Wilkins, Case Manager, Richard Harris 8×8 Program

Looking Ahead

The Richard Harris 8×8 program continues to help people move from homelessness to stability by connecting them with the resources they need to succeed. Through supportive housing, recovery services, and ongoing guidance, the program is helping build a stronger and healthier community for everyone.

As CCC continues its mission of ending homelessness and supporting recovery, programs like Richard Harris 8×8 remain an important part of creating opportunities for people to rebuild their lives and achieve lasting success.

Help provide safe, stable housing to those rebuilding their lives through CCC’s housing services.
