Since 1979, the Portland community has trusted Central City Concern to help people create meaningful, long-term change in their lives. Your tax-deductible donation makes a real difference in the lives of our most vulnerable neighbors as they move toward stability, self-sufficiency and success.

Together, we can end homelessness. Thank you for your generous gift.

Donate Your Vehicle

Central City Concern will will gladly accept your car, truck, boat, motorcycle or even RV.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Call 855-500-RIDE or submit the online vehicle donation form. Vehicle donor support representatives are available seven days a week to answer donor questions. Within 48 business hours of submitting the form, the vehicle donation support team will contact you to complete the donation and confirm your pick-up information.
  2. Schedule your free pick-up. In most cases, your vehicle pick-up can be scheduled within three business days once the donation record has been completed.
  3. Receive a donation receipt. Vehicle donations are tax-deductible! An initial donation receipt is provided at the time of the pick-up. If the vehicle sells for $500 or less, donors are also mailed a thank-you letter within 30 days of the sale of the vehicle, which serves as a tax receipt. If the vehicle sells for more than $500 and the donor has provided their tax identification number, an IRS Form 1098-C will be mailed to the donor within 30 days of the sale stating the amount of gross proceeds (the maximum amount of your tax deduction) received from your donation. For specific tax-related questions, please consult a tax advisor.

Tax-Wise Gift Planning

Gifts from your IRA Required Minimum Distribution (also called an IRA Rollover) maroon arrow pointing right

A tax-saving opportunity for those 70½ and older. You can give any amount (up to a maximum of $100,000) per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity without having to pay income taxes on the money. This can help reduce your income and tax burden.

Learn about how Barbara and Terry Lawson made this tax-wise impact.

To Qualify:

  • You must be age 70 ½ or older when you make your gift
  • Gifts must be made directly from a traditional IRA account by your IRA administrator to Central City Concern.
  • Gifts from 401k, 403b, or other plans do not qualify. Your financial advisor can tell you if creating a traditional IRA account would fit your circumstances. If so, you can benefit from the IRA Charitable Transfer.
  • Gifts be outright. Distributions to donor-advised funds or life-income arrangements, like charitable remainder trusts, do not qualify.
