The Hotel Alder is a five-story historic apartment building consisting of 99 single-room occupancy units located in the heart of downtown Portland. The Hotel Alder is an alcohol- and drug-free community. All units are income and rent restricted, with some project-based Section 8 rent subsidized units available.
Parks: South Park Blocks (0.7 mile), Tom McCall Waterfront Park (0.4 mile), Washington Park (1.8 miles)
Health facilities: Legacy Good Samaritan (1.5 miles), Providence Medical Center, Old Town Clinic (0.4 miles), Old Town Recovery Center (0.4 miles)
Other: Portland State University Farmer’s Market (1.0 mile)

To apply, first review the screening and eligibility requirements below, found in Tenant Selection Plan (Section 8) and Building Criteria (Fair Market). Then, submit a pre-application for the unit type you are interested in:
If you are interested in rent restricted units without subsidy at the Hotel Alder, submit the Fair Market pre-application following the instructions in the section below.
Applicants currently working with a program listed on the Partner Agency List may submit a Partner Agency Referral Form once completed and signed by the program. Submittal of Partner Agency Referral form is optional, but provides an applicant preference on the waiting list.
Submitting Your Section 8 and Fair Market Pre-Application Materials:
You have two options for submitting your pre-application materials:
Email. Send your completed and signed pre-application materials to email@example.com for Section 8 units and Fair Market units. Please note that these are separate pre-applications, submitting one does not put you on both lists.
In-person. Bring your completed and signed pre-application materials to the CCC Housing Office at 523 NW Everett St., Portland OR, 97209.
Note: CCC strongly encourages applicants to submit pre-application forms by email so there is a electronic record and we can provide a receipt. CCC will not accept faxed applications or those submitted directly at Hotel Alder.
Pets are not allowed at the Hotel Alder. Applicants/Tenants may request service or assistance animals as a reasonable accommodation when necessary to support a verified disability. All requests are subject to management approval.
Eligibility and screening
A security deposit is not required at the Hotel Alder.
The building is a mixture of ADFC (alcohol- and drug-free community) and non-ADFC units.
