Ankeny Square Apartments is a seven-story alcohol- and drug-free community located in downtown Portland. The building consists of single-room occupancy and studio units. Most units are rent subsidized through project-based Section 8, with residents paying a portion of the rent.

The CCC Housing Office will close the Interested Parties Waitlist (IPL) 5:00PM PST on Friday 6/23/23.  After that date, pre-applications will not be accepted for the waitlist. After the 6/23/23 closure, CCC Housing will decommission the IPL and change up the process for renting out fair market units (income/rent restricted units without subsidy attached) starting in early July 2023.

We’re also accepting pre-applications for Section 8 project-based subsidy units.  To be considered for the waiting list, submit your completed and signed Ankeny Square Section 8 SRO Pre-Application to .  Please see below for additional optional and required documents. The Section 8 waiting list will close once a 12 month backlog of pre-applications have been received, with two weeks’ notice on this page.

You have two options for submitting your Section 8 pre-application materials:

  • Email. Send your completed and signed pre-application materials to
  • In-person. Bring your completed and signed pre-application materials to the CCC Housing Office at 523 NW Everett St., Portland OR, 97209. Application intake will be held outside, following physical distancing protocols.
  • All applicants are required to have a Recovery Verification/Sobriety Referral completed prior to intake.  This may be submitted along with pre-application.
  • Applicants may receive preference on the waitlist by submitting a Homeless Verification and/or through a Partner Agency Referral from an organization currently on the Partner Agency List.

Pets are not allowed at Ankeny Square.  Applicants/Tenants may request service or assistance animals as a reasonable accommodation when necessary to support a verified disability. All requests are subject to management approval.

Eligibility and screening

  • A security deposit is not required at Ankeny Square.
  • The building is an alcohol- and drug-free community.

Units at Ankeny Square are income and rent restricted based on a percentage of Median Family Income (%MFI) for Multnomah County. Households must earn annual income below the corresponding %MFI to be eligible for the unit. Click here for information to help you determine the maximum income limit.
