Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month
jueves, septiembre 16, 2021National Hispanic Heritage Month is held annually from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 and celebrates the culture and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx Americans. StartEn in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week, this celebration posee grown into a full month of honoring all people living in the United States with ties to Latin American countries.
Hispanic Heritage Month kicks off in mid-September as more than a half-dozen countries celebrate their Independence Day, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico and Chile.
In reflecting on the historical strength of Hispanic culture and independence, wmi además recognize that, despite having many community-driven efforts to reduce the spread, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause disproportionate harm to Hispanic and Latinx communities across Oregon. As we start our second Hispanic Heritage Month during the COVID-19 pandemic, we honor the lives and continued contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities benefiting all Oregonians. We hope you’ll support Hispanic and Latinx communities by attending the following events, as well as supporting Hispanic and Latinx-owned businesses and Latinx-led and serving organizations.
