Our Response to COVID-19

Central City Concern is committed to supporting our community’s health. Our response to the COVID-19 pandemic has been swift and comprehensive.

Our first priority is the safety and wellbeing of our patients, clients, residents and staff. Measures we are taking include:

  • Joining with the Joint Office of Homeless Services, Multnomah County Public Health and Multnomah County Emergency Response to create a coordinated coronavirus response for homeless members of our community in shelters, in day centers and on the street.
  • Following CDC and Oregon Health Authority best-in-class infection prevention standards to make sure our clinics are safe for in-person visits.
  • Providing coronavirus testing at no cost to our patients.
  • Requiring all health services staff and patients to wear masks. If you don’t have one, we’ll give you a mask before entering our buildings.
  • Screening clients for COVID-19 symptoms by phone and at clinic entrances. Clients with symptoms are given further support and access to health resources as needed.
  • Offering phone and video appointments as well as in-person visits.
  • Working with public health agencies to make sure we have adequate supplies of masks, gowns and other personal protective equipment for our staff, especially those on the front lines.
  • Educating our staff and clients about preventing the spread of COVID-19 by washing your hands often, covering your cough and staying home when you’re sick.
  • Giving our staff additional paid time off during the pandemic, so they have more flexibility to handle unexpected needs or responsibilities.
  • Maintaining a skilled and experienced COVID-19 rapid response team capable of responding to situations at any CCC facility 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
